Finding The Right Granite For Your Countertop

We were remodeling our kitchen and we had our minds set on a granite countertop. We loved the look of it, and the durability. We thought it was the best thing for our kitchen. We wanted our countertops to look nice, and complement the design of the kitchen, and granite seemed to be the best option. We knew we only had a limited amount of time to pick out the perfect granite while our kitchen remodeling. It needed to be decided upon by the time the cabinets were done. Luckily, the cabinets were the last thing to go into the kitchen, so we had some time find the right piece the granite countertop installation.

We went to a few stores in the area, but just couldn't find the exact slab we were wanting for the countertops. We had a definite color in mind, and we wanted just the right amount of texture and variation. We were being a little bit picky, but we would be seeing those granite countertops every single day, and we wanted them just right. We were becoming discouraged with our options, and weren't sure what to do next to find the right piece.

We ended up doing a random internet search for granite. we had found a few different places that seemed to carry more options that the places that we went to nearby our home. It was looking like we may need to go a little bit further to find our perfect granite for our kitchen countertops. We made a note of the stores within a three hour radius of our home, and decided to make a day out of it. We were determined to find the right granite at one of these stores.

We went to the first store, and found some great options. We were already having better luck there than we had before. We were very encouraged, but wanted to make sure we had seen all our options before deciding. We went to the second store and we found the perfect granite right off the bat. We didn't need to look any further. We knew it was the piece we were looking for our countertops. We purchased the granite on the spot and made arrangements for it to be cut to specification and delivered to be installed on our cabinets the next week.

Victorian Home Remodeling And Updating

My husband and I had been saving up to remodel the home we bought about five years ago. When we bought the home we knew it was a "fixer-upper", and we decided to save our money for five years instead of taking out a loan to fix it up. We were completely in love with the property, and the bones of the home. It was an old Victorian, and we loved the old, antique feel of the place. The yard was huge on three acres covered on fruit trees and with more than enough room for the English Garden I had always dreamed about. We thought the Victorian style of the home would compliment the garden nicely.

We wanted to keep as much of the original work in the home, and we needed to find a home remodeling company that would be able to preserve the character of the home, while also updating things like the kitchen, bathrooms, plumbing, and maybe adding a new screen room and some artistic features. I really wanted a huge built in bookcase flanking each side of the large brick fireplace. It had been my dream to have those bookcases, and the fireplace was a beautiful piece with a dark stained oak mantle. It would be the perfect place for the bookcases and ambiance I wanted to create with them.

The kitchen was in need of major updating and repair. It needed new plumbing, sink, fixtures, appliances, counter tops, and cupboards all put in to make it functional and pleasing to the eye. I wanted to have an island put in the middle of the kitchen with a big wood slab for the top. I loved that look and the functionality to use it as a cutting board when I needed to.

The bathrooms all needed to be gutted and plumbing repaired. The tile in the bathrooms was horrid, and definitely needed to be changed. I picked out a new sink, vanity, tub, tile, fixtures, and toilet for our new bathrooms. I couldn't be more excited to get rid of what was in there now.

The only thing we needed to do was find a contractor for the remodel. We did an online search in our area for "vintage home remodeling" and found a contractor that could do exactly what we wanted and still keep the vintage integrity of our home. The remodel is done now, and we couldn't be more pleased with our dream home.
